Two-stage filtration process

Our recommended combination of filter cartridges are detailed below ideal for the conscientious consumer. However this system is designed in order that you can choose the filter cartridges that best suit your needs; dependent on the contamination you wish to remove from your water supply.

Stage 1 – Fluoride filter

The fluoride removal media is made from the same mineral that rubies and sapphires (corundum) are made from, in crystalline form. The process ‘selective adsorption’ is a physical/chemical reaction whereby the fluoride ions are removed by binding to the media’s oxidised surface. This highly porous material has a large surface area of 200meter² per gram for optimal filtration.

Stage 2 – Doulton Ultracarb® filter

The second stage filter cartridge featured within the twin undersink has two important functions:

1. The ceramic outer shell The outer shell – manufactured with Doulton Sterasyl® ceramic – mechanically filters out harmful bacteria and parasites to sub-micron filtration. This stage reduces fine particulate matter, bacteria, cysts and turbidity. Silver, incorporated within this ceramic structure provides enhanced bacteriostatic and self sterilising properties.
2. An inner core of quality NSF certified (ANSI 61) coconut shell based granular activated carbon removes chlorine and organic compounds. Ion exchange resin incorporated within the inner core effectively reduces lead, zinc and other heavy metals.
